Deep within the lush rainforests of Khao Sok, you may come across one of the region’s most visually striking reptiles: the Wagler’s Pit Viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri), locally known as the "Gecko Green Snake" (Ngu Khiao Tuk-Kae). Named for its unique patterns, this species features dramatic sexual dimorphism. Females showcase a heavy-bodied, regal look with bold black and bright yellow-green bands, while males are slender with vibrant green bodies peppered with red and white spots.

As nocturnal, ambush predators, they spend their days motionless, coiled peacefully around branches low in the canopy waiting for the nightfall. Seeing one in its untouched natural habitat is a testament to the thriving wilderness of Southern Thailand.
